Time Flies: Our Look Back at the European Forum Alpbach 2018.

European Forum Alpbach 2018: Diversity x Resilience as Big Topics.
How can we stay in tune with the times — and keep up? How do we respond to new challenges and overcome crises? How can we counteract the rise of populism? These were just some of the key questions explored at the European Forum Alpbach 2018, across topics such as democracy, media, sustainability, and education.
At DMS, we also enjoy looking back at past events — because they shape the learnings that will guide us into the future.
What made this forum especially compelling: the big topics were diversity and resilience — embracing variety, recognizing diversity as a strength, and building stability to master crises. A total of 5,300 participants from more than 120 countries joined over 200 events.
High-level representatives from science, business, politics, culture, and civil society worked alongside students to develop new strategies — and this collaborative spirit was a welcome surprise for Forum President Franz Fischler, who emphasized that the forum was more international than ever. He described Alpbach as a growing hub for exchange and dialogue — a place where global challenges are analyzed and real solutions are found.
And us? Of course we were there too!
A big thank you to all participants for the inspiring keynotes and conversations that sparked new ideas — and gave us fresh momentum to move forward.
