Vienna, January 17, 2020 — More sales, more profit — that’s the goal for everyone in retail. But which digitization solutions actually deliver success at the point of sale? On Thursday, January 16, the INNOX Network kicked off its first event of the year at DMS (Digitale Mediensysteme GmbH) in Vienna’s Ottakring district. Innovation leaders gathered for two expert presentations and in-depth discussions on digital transformation in brick-and-mortar retail.
“In just a few years, the retail landscape in Europe will be completely different. If you want to implement cross-selling and omnichannel commerce in retail, you have to change your mindset in order to generate more profit and revenue. Knowledge follows from data, and sales and profit follow from knowledge and measures. The key to digitization lies in connecting well-developed customer loyalty programs with innovative marketing and digital technologies at the point of sale.”
Thomas Hinterleitner, Founder of RETAIL-Place
DMS CEO Michael Buchacher presented the company’s infrastructure — including its in-house film and audio studios — and demonstrated cutting-edge sensor technologies that allow consumers to be tracked in-store, in real time:
“Instore Analytics is one of the most important trends in physical retail, which is now gaining momentum in Austria. Customers are tracked from the shop window to the checkout and back to the exit. Their behavior at the point of sale generates data that can be used to personalize the shopping experience and make staff deployment more efficient.”
All implemented solutions naturally comply with data protection regulations concerning personal data. The aim is to offer tailor-made digital solutions for retail — tools that consistently deliver ROI and better sales performance.
Founded by Hans Sailer, the INNOX Network has brought together innovation leaders from diverse major companies since 2012, helping them collaboratively tackle new challenges in the innovation space. The next event, taking place on February 20 at Kapsch, will focus on "Search Inside Yourself," the mindfulness program developed by Google.
